Book Clubs
I think children’s book clubs are a great way to promote reading, and a good way for kids who already love reading to make new friends. I’ve visited several book clubs, and have led a few myself. I’ve also visited book clubs for grown ups who read kids books. So if you have a book club and would like a real visitor (inside the Twin Cities) or a virtual visitor (Twin Cities or anywhere else), just drop me a line. I do not charge for virtual book club visits, and there is currently no charge for downloading and using the Skype software I use for virtual book club visits.
By the way, if you have read one of my books with a class or a reading group, be sure to see the “extras” on this website. Extras for Mudville include Mr. McGuire’s recipes, Roy’s and Sturgis’s pages, and an excellent readers guide by the Midwest Booksellers Association. Extras for Mamba Point include resources about Africa and snakes, pages by Linus and Matt, and a gallery of snake drawings by readers.
Schools and Libraries
I love to do short virtual visits with classes and reading groups. Just send me an email.
I have limited availability for in-person visits during regular school hours in the Twin Cities metro. Mondays are best, and my visits are best suited for groups of 10-40 students, grades 4-6. Drop me a line.
The Children’s Literature Network has more suggestions for authors who do school visits, including many in the Twin Cities.
